Saltalamacchia's night improves

Jarrod Saltalamacchia will be the first to admit that he has had a rough night behind the plate. His passed ball in the third inning led to an unearned run, and he dropped a throw at home in the sixth that would have cut down the Royals' second run.

But he just doubled home the game-tying run with two outs in the seventh and scored the go-ahead run from second on a popup that pitcher Brian Bannister dropped.

Vindication? Absolutely.
