Byrd update

A sprained left thumb has felled Marlon Byrd. His glove came off when he dove for Dustin Pedroia's line drive in the first inning. The club says Byrd is day to day, and X-rays taken to see if he had any fractures were negative.

Meanwhile, the crowd when wild when Mike Lowell took Kevin Millwood deep for a 1-0 lead. There might be 30,000 here before the night's done, and half (maybe more) are cheering for the Red Sox.
