Word is that John Blake, the Rangers' former day-to-day PR man, will be returning to the club as an executive vice president over public relations. That's not an official title, though that's the spot that was recently vacated by Jim Sundberg, who was promoted to senior executive vice president last week.
Blake has spent the past three seasons with the Red Sox as their vice president of media relations. He started with the Rangers in 1985 and was with them for all three of their division titles. That span also coincided with Nolan Ryan's stint with the Rangers, and was Blake working for vice president of communications for Ryan-Sanders Baseball when Boston hired him in 2006.
Ryan, now the team president, is hiring Blake again. An announcement could be made this week.
