Mike Maddux becomes a free agent of sorts when his contract with the Brewers runs out this weekend. So, he'll be free to talk to any team without Milwaukee having to consent to an interview, and the Rangers would still like to talk to him about becoming pitching coach. Word has reached the brother of shoo-in Hall of Famer Greg Maddux that the Rangers are interested, hasn't it?
The GM meetings begin Tuesday in a Dana Point, Calif., but the schedule there allows for plenty of free time if Jon Daniels and his team would want to sit down and talk with Maddux. He would become the third external candidate interviewed, joining Rick Peterson and Dave Wallace.
