Four pitchers -- right-hander Brian Gordon and lefties A.J. Murray, John Rheinecker and Bill White -- have been outrighted off the 40-man roster after clearing waivers. They will become minor-league free agents five days after the World Series. Murray and Rheinecker were on the 60-day disabled list and did not count against the 40-man roster.
Also, outfielder Marlon Byrd underwent surgery on his injured left knee in Cincinnati. Byrd was originally injured in April and served one stint on the 15-day DL before returning to finish with a .298 average with 10 homers and 53 RBI.
