The final candidate from the A list interviews today as the Rangers try to fill out their coaching staff. Dave Wallace, currently employed by the Mariners, follows Rick Peterson as the top two hopefuls to be pitching coach. The Rangers want an experienced hand who will help the pitchers prepare better for each start and between starts.
General manager Jon Daniels wants the task completed this week, and the four new hires could be Jackie Moore as bench coach, Peterson as pitching coach, Andy Hawkins as bullpen coach and Perry Hill as fielding instructor/base coach. Hawkins appears to be the best bet. Hill might be the toughest to get. If he looks toward another opportunity, expect the Rangers to consider Dave Anderson. He's their minor-league field coordinator and has had success as a minor-league manager.
Josh Hamilton will be in town to promote his new book, Beyond Belief. His first stop comes Tuesday at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano. It's a speaking event/book signing that begins at 11:30 a.m. Hamilton will follow that up with an appearance on the LIFE Today show with James Robison at 7 p.m. Tuesday. To reserve a spot in the studio audience -- chances are all tickets are gone -- call 817-354-3655. The studio is in Euless.
Hamilton will make a third appearance at 7 p.m. Wednesday. He'll be signing copies of his book at Barnes & Noble at the Parks at Arlington.
