Sundberg promoted to senior executive VP

Jim Sundberg has been promoted to senior executive vice president, Texas Rangers President Nolan Ryan announced today. Sundberg will assist Ryan in running the organization and also serve as a liaison for the club's spring training complex in Surprise, Ariz.

"I have been familiar with Jim’s history to the organization since we were teammates back in 1989," Ryan said in a written statement. "Only in the last eight months have I experienced his real value to me, the organization, and its fan base. I look forward to our relationship as we work together to take the Texas Rangers to the next level."

Sundberg will retain his duties in public relations, community relations and the Texas Rangers Legacy Partnership.
