GM meetings: Day 1

My day so far in Dana Point, Calif., site of the laugh-a-minute GM meetings:

Was rudely awakened at 6:10 a.m. by a phone call. The woman on the other line had dialed the wrong number. Great.

Got up, and the power went out at the hotel. I bet the power never goes out at the posh/ritzy/fancy-butt St. Regis. For $400-something a night for a lame-o standard room, it better not.

Went and worked out, and the power went out again. No big deal.

Arrived here at the posh/ritzy/super-nice St. Regis and had two choices: Scan the Internet for news, or go to the lobby and stand around like other media dopes waiting for a glimpse of a GM. You can easily spot a media member here. We're the ones who haven't had plastic surgery and are trying to look fashionable but can't quite pull it off.

Well, time to check out the lobby, conveniently located next to the bar and only 50 yards away from a snack shop that sells Pepsi products for $4.50.
