Rangers pursuing Randy Johnson

Team president Nolan Ryan confirmed that the Rangers have had discussions with five-time Cy Young Award winner Randy Johnson. The veteran is a free agent and is one of two the Rangers are pursuing along with Ben Sheets. Ryan identified that duo as the two free agents the Rangers are willing to commit to.

Ryan said Johnson would likely come on a short-term deal and would be a valuable asset to the Rangers' young pitchers.

Let's see, a guy who had arm trouble and a guy with back trouble who is wayyyy beyond his prime. Par for the course for the Rangers.

If the Rangers sign Johnson or Sheets does that mean they will trade one of the other pitchers they now have?

Stupid. The dude will be hurt all year. He will demand a large contract and we will get little in return. This is another attempt by Hicks to get fans into the stands by using a major record or gimmick. This reminds me of the Sammy Sosa era a few years back.

How is a 45 year old pitcher going to stand up through the Texas summer even if he is healthy?

Say dog, the Rangers can go after any pitcher they want, just as long as they don't trade away anymore young pitchers. The Rangers need to figure out a way to do some minor renovation to the Ball Park, so it won't be such a launching pad. The old Arlington Stadium was alot more pitcher & fan friendly. Next, Go back to wearing Red, yes its hot here and red makes it even hotter, but we WON....Alot!! Finally, that defense particularly the infield SUCK, so somebody (Manager, Front Office, who ever) has got to hold the players more accountable for those errors, sit they as:) down for a couple of games, ship them out of here, or something, because by the time they get to the Majors, they should be able to stay focus enough to play defense.....PS, Any other player that don't want to be here or play here, ship they a?%:) out too, I rather root for a team, My Team, The Rangers knowing that the players I cheer for, want to be here and are committed to being here.......Love Wash, Love Nolan, I think we are on the right track.....you feel me.

Anyone thinking Tom Hicks is making baseball personnel decisions shouldn't be allowed to post.

Sampson-everyone has an opinion.Do you by the way work for directly or indirectly the Rangers or Mr Hicks? Randys image is of the past and makes no sense, when where talking about the payroll,or what he can do on the feild today. If you want to hire him as a coach, fine. Than send him to the minors on a coaches salery. This to long term Rangers fans seems more of the same sub .500 pitchers-Does that make sense to you? You might want to rub that brown off your nose.

Can we get literate people on this blog? It would make comprehendng their thoughts routine instead of a challenge.
