Team Star-Telegram begins its exodus to spring training bright and early Thursday morning and will have three hands (two beat reporters and a columnist) on hand for much of the Rangers' time in Surprise -- except for the occasional motorsports event at Texas Motor Speedway and five days in early March dedicated to the well-being of the thickest lawn in the 76248 postal code.
T.R Sullivan of MLB.com arrives Friday. We'll miss the Dallas Morning News crew of Evan Grant and Richard Durrett, who won't be around to offer their insights and continue their excellent work on the beat. The DMN is sending columnists, though I'm not sure of their schedule. I'd hope soon.
As we continue to get this blogging thing down, we will attempt to have video updates, live chats and even some live in-game chats throughout the spring. We'll keep you posted and hope you can participate. Last season's trial balloon known as the Rangers Mailbag will resume this season. Again, hope you can participate.
Next dispatch will be from Arizona, unless the Rangers find the time to sign another free agent to a minor-league deal.
