Honor for Didier

Longtime Rangers and major league super scout Mel Didier received a phone call from his alma mater, LSU, Monday morning, asking if he can fly to Baton Rouge to address a luncheon and then throw out the first pitch before the inaugural game at the school's sparkling new $45 million baseball stadium Friday.

Didier, of course, accepted the invitation immediately.

"I can't tell you what an honor this is," he said. "I can hardly speak, I'm so excited."

Anyone who knows Didier knows that if he's speechless, he's truly shell-shocked.

It's an honor that's well deserved for one of the nicest guys in professional baseball.
