Third baseman Michael Young said he hasn't spoken with friend and former teammate Alex Rodriguez in light of today's Sports Illustrated report that Rodriguez tested positive for steroids in 2003. Young and Hank Blalock are the only current Rangers who were teammates with Rodriguez.
"Yeah, it's defenitely surprising," said Young, who called Rodriguez "by far" the best player in baseball. "The second I saw it my initial reaction was surprise, but I was able to shift gears pretty quickly. I've had to return a lot of phone calls today, and everything I've said has been in support for Alex.
"I played with the guy for three years. We had tons of conversations in the clubhouse, on the plane, over dinner, and not once did the topic of steroids come up."
