Matt Harrison couldn't get out of the second inning, and the Rangers had only six hits as San Francisco rolled at Surprise Stadium.
Harrison pitched a scoreless first but lost his command in the second. But he regained his form after he was pulled, finishing up his work in a minor-league game. He had two easy innings against Kansas City minor-leaguers and two Rangers minor-leaguers after the game. He needed only 39 pitches.
Jason Jennings had three good innings in relief, retiring nine of the 10 hitters he faced. The one was a solo home run by Andres Torres. Jennings believes he has shown that he should be in the bullpen on Opening Day.
"Hopefully, I proved that over the last four weeks," said Jennings, who can opt out of his minor-league contract today.
Derrick Turnbow is likely headed to Triple-A Oklahoma City if he stays with the Rangers. He allowed three runs, but he and the Rangers had discussed the possibility prior to his outing. He called Oklahoma City his backup plan if another opportunity with a big-league club doesn't develop.
