The ninth inning

The catch made by Nick Markakis should be atop the Top 10 list of highlights ESPN runs nightly. Ditto for the MLB Network. He robbed Michael Young of extra bases with a sprinting catch and cost the Rangers the tying run. Ian Kinsler was caught off-guard by the catch and didn't tag up to advance to third base. Josh Hamilton followed with what would have been a game-tying sacrifice fly.

Said Young: "That was a hell of a play, a hell of a play. I know Markakis is a great right fielder, so I was just hoping it would sneak over his head. I was surprised. It was a hell of a play."

Said Kinsler: "I should be on third base. It was a great play, but I need to be on third regardless of if he catches it or not. I played it right off the bat. I went where I wanted to go. When the ball started coming down, I took two hard steps to third and that put me out of position."
