On his fourth at bat in his rehab assignment with the Frisco RoughRiders, Josh Hamilton hit a ground ball between the first and second baseman and a run scored from third to give Frisco a 2-1 lead in the seventh inning. Hamilton had fouled off the first two pitches from Chia-Jen Lo, a hard throwing pitcher from Taiwan.
Lo, who hit 97 mph on the radar gun, then threw two balls before Hamilton singled to right on a 96 mph fastball.
Hamilton said before the game that he would stay in the minor leagues until he regained his timing, and although he was facing a minor league pitcher, his ability to hit a searing fastball was a good sign for him and the Rangers.
