Six hours to go ...

The national media took hold of the Rangers-Roy Halladay story late Thursday and have left it on life support this morning. Maybe they're right. Maybe not. The Rangers and Blue Jays have talked/are talking, and the Rangers seem to be the front-runner to acquire Halladay.

This note says that the Rangers had a good chance, but things hit a snag late Thursday. Is Derek Holland that snag? It says in another report that the Blue Jays still want Holland and Justin Smoak as part of a four-player package. Tommy Hunter has attracted Toronto's attention, and the Blue Jays might also be seeking out young catching help.

If Toronto won't buckle on its reported demand of Holland and Smoak in a deal, don't look for Halladay to start for the Rangers on Monday at Oakland or in any other game this season. If Holland can be replaced in the package, something could get done by the 3 p.m. trade deadline.
