Smoak to Triple A

Saying only that "we decided he was ready," general manger Jon Daniels confirmed that first baseman Justin Smoak is making the jump to Triple-A Oklahoma City from Double-A Frisco. Smoak, the club's first overall pick in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft, hit .328 in 50 games for Frisco with six homers, 29 RBI, 39 walks and only 35 strikeouts. His on-base percentage was a cool .449.

The Rangers probably will downplay the significance in the decison and wince as you, the fan, speculates on how soon Smoak will be in the major leagues. I, on the other hand, believe speculation is healthy and full endorse it. Go crazy, folks. I'll get the ball rolling: early to mid-August.
