The Derek Holland aftermath

The rookie left-hander said he's never had a game like he had Thursday night in his career. He didn't even know he had a perfect game until Jack Hannahan's two-out single in the fifth. He said he begged manager Ron Washington to stay in the game, but Washington wouldn't budge on his 120-pitch limit. Holland finished with 118 pitches. He's now all over the Rangers record book too.

Among the notable numbers.

He has the rookie left-hander strikeout record for the organization now with 10.

He's the first Texas starter to go at leat 8 2/3 while allowing two or fewer hits since Doug Davis April 11, 2002.

He tied Kevin Millwood for most strikeouts in a game this season.

Matt Perisho was the last Texas lefty with 10 strikeouts in a game, doing it Oct. 3, 1999.

The last rookie to strike out 10 for the Rangers was Juan Dominguez, Aug. 13, 2005.

Way to go Holland. I was one of those giving him that standing O and I was also one of those giving Wash a massive boo. One more pitch, just let him have one more pitch. But no. Could have had that CG Shutout. I could taste it.
