Conditioning a priority for Tommy Hunter

Tommy Hunter said he's going to surprise people when they see him when he reports to spring training in early February. Hunter, who is listed at 255 pounds, is spending his off-season in Arlington. He's working out five days a week with strength and conditioning coach Jose Vazquez. Hunter plans to be leaner and meaner for his second season. Hunter's attitude is great too. He's not taking his starting spot forgranted despite his nine wins and 4.10 ERA.

"You have to go there with the mentality that you have to win your job," said Hunter, who spent last off-season in Atlanta. "I'm coming to spring training ready to go. If they see fit for me to be in the starting rotation, I'll take it and run with it."
