The Rangers just sent out a release that Clint Hurdle has been hired as their hitting coach. He and three others interviewed Monday, and sources confirmed Tuesday that he was the choice ahead of Rusty Greer, Thad Bosley and Gerald Perry. A contract offer was made Wednesday.
"Clint adds another experienced, successful coach to our major-league staff," general Jon Daniels said in the release. "He's demonstrated an ability to communicate, motivate and emphasize a team-first offensive mentality."
