No ROY for Elvis Andrus

The Texas shortstop finished second in voting for American League rookie of the year. Oakland reliever Andrew Bailey won the award. Andrus hit .267 with six homers and 40 RBI. He also stole 33 bases and played well at shortstop, allowing the Rangers to move Michael Young to third base. Bailey received 13 first-place votes and Andrus got six. Bailey finished with 88 points and Andrus 65, one more than Detroit's Rick Porcello. Porcello received the other seven first-place votes.
