With Darren Oliver now in the fold, the Rangers plan to address their needs for offense. The first priority figures to be a right-handed bat. "We'd like to have a presence in the lineup," general manager Jon Daniels said. "I'd say at least one bat, potentially two. That depends on who the first guy is whether we need to add a second."
Daniels said the Rangers may have to wait until the top two free agents - Jason Bay and Matt Holliday - sign before they can address their needs. Daniels said the Rangers haven't changed their budget. Daniels said the Rangers still have money to add a player if they need to.
