From the clubhouse ...

Darren O'Day, who wasn't available Monday night, isn't available tonight as he deals with a back injury that is causing a nerve issue. He said that the training staff has a handle on the injury now, and Wednesday is the earliest he can return. A DL stint has not been discussed.

Vladimir Guerrero will start in right field tonight as the Rangers shuffle to account for Nelson Cruz going on the DL with a sore hamstring. It will be Guerrero's first game in the field this season. Ryan Garko will be the designated hitter. He is 12 for 25 lifetime against Mark Buehrle. Guerrero is 8 for 25 with four homers.

Craig Gentry, the replacement for Cruz, will start in center field tonight. He hadn't arrived from Oklahoma City by the time the Rangers started to stretch before batting practice.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia swatted a three-run homer for Triple A Oklahoma City in a 9-5 loss. He's hitting .333. There have been no discussions of him joining the Rangers before they leave for a six-game road trip Thursday evening. Ian Kinsler, though, will be on that flight.
