Nelson Cruz lands on disabled list

The Rangers have placed right fielder Nelson Cruz on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring. Craig Gentry was recalled from Triple A Oklahoma City and will be available tonight against Chicago.

Cruz initially suffered the injury a week ago in Boston. He left late in the first two games, was the designated hitter in the finale, and got an off day to open the current homestand. He left last night's game after scoring on a wild pitch in the sixth inning.

Cruz heads to the DL with seven home runs, second in the league. Gentry was hitting .293 with two homers and five steals for Oklahoma City. He made his big-league debut as part of the Rangers' September call-ups last year.
