Derek Holland likely headed to DL

Left-hander Derek Holland has been diagnosed with mild inflamation in his left rotator cuff and is likely to be placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday. Holland, who was examined today by Dr. Keith Meister in Arlington, will not rejoin the team on the road trip and be shut down for three to five days. He is expected to start throwing again soon if his health progresses this week.

The Rangers would lean toward adding a reliever, probably Pedro Strop, to replace Holland on the 25-man roster until they get to Holland's next turn in the rotation Saturday. Tommy Hunter, who is pitching for Triple A Oklahoma City today, would be the top candidate for the start against Tampa Bay.
