The Rangers have sent left-hander Derek Holland to extended spring training in Surprise, Ariz., to continue his rehab from inflammation of the left rotator cuff. He played long toss today and will attempt to do so again Saturday. If all goes well, he will be on a mound Monday or Tuesday. He will throw two sessions of live batting practice before heading on a rehab assignment.
Nelson Cruz is at least a week away from a rehab assignment, which means he will not be activiated from the disabled list Tuesday with a strained left hamstring. Expect him back for the Rangers' next homestand, which begins June 21.
The bankruptcy case involving the Rangers, the lenders of Hicks Sports Group and the sale of the club will resume Tuesday in Fort Worth. The biggest part of the hearing, which could last a few days, will be a judge's ruling on if the lenders are impaired. If they aren't, it's a big step for the sale of the team to be completed. If they are impaired, the situation gets even murkier than it is now but in no way eliminates Rangers Baseball Express from becoming owners.
