Josh Hamilton appears to be All-Star lock

The hottest June in baseball has Josh Hamilton on the verge of a third straight start in the All-Star Game, and the Rangers' left fielder might overtake Ichiro Suzuki atop the fan balloting for outfielders.

Hamilton has opened a gap of some 124,000 votes over third-place Carl Crawford and now trails Suzuki by 18,554 votes. Nelson Cruz is fourth behind Crawford, but the gap is more than 160,00 votes.

Vladimir Guerrero continues to distance himself from second-place Hideki Matsui in voting for designated hitters. Guerrero leads by more than 1.6 million votes. Shortstop Elvis Andrus remains second behind Derek Jeter.

Fan voting ends at 11 p.m. Thursday. Rosters will be announced Sunday.
