The Rangers have agreed to a deal that will bring them catcher Bengie Molina from San Francisco in exchange for right-hander Chris Ray and a player to be named later, according to major-league sources. The trade is pending the necessary approvals from MLB.
The inclusion of Ray makes it a financially neutral deal, a significant detail considering the restraints the Rangers are under. The Rangers worked right up to game time on the deal, and as a result were late getting the lineup card to the umpires and only at the last minute did they option Matt Harrison to Triple A Oklahoma City to make room on the roster for Omar Beltre.
