If Josh Hamilton hadn't been the American League Player of the Month for June, something very, very strange would have been behind it. But he was just handed that honor, so all's well.
All Hamilton did was lead the majors in batting average (.454), RBIs (31), hits (49), total bases (88), slugging percentage (.815) and on-base percentage (.482). He tied for the MLB lead in extra base hits with 20, and also had a league-high nine homers. Oh, and he hit in 23 straight games.
Hamilton edged out Adrian Beltre and teammate Vladimir Guerrero. Cliff Lee was the top pitcher.
