Rangers option Chris Davis to Triple A

The Rangers needed a spot on the 25-man roster for Jorge Cantu, and they created it tonight by sending Chris Davis back to Triple A Oklahoma City. The first baseman was 10 for 53 (.189) since being recalled after Justin Smoak was traded to Seattle in the Cliff Lee deal.

Mitch Moreland, who went 2 for 4 in his major-league tonight, will stick on the roster and travel with the Rangers to Anaheim. He could either become part of a platoon with Jorge Cantu or become Cantu's backup. Right now the plan appears to be a platoon.
