Rangers manager Ron Washington said that the neck stiffness that has sacked third baseman Michael Young has improved, but Washington suggested that Young might not be able to start the series finale Wednesday afternoon.
Young woke up Monday with the neck issue and played seven innings before leaving the game. Washington had planned to give Young a day off during this series, and conveniently it fell in line with the neck stiffness. Young, though, might get two days off, which would mean that Jorge Cantu would be the starting third baseman for a second straight game.
