Nelson Cruz headed to disabled list

Right fielder Nelson Cruz is heading to the 15-day disabled list for a third time this season, and a second time with a strained left hamstring. An MRI on Sunday revealed no tear but inflammation in and around the muscle. The move is retroactive to Sunday, so Cruz can come off the DL on Aug. 30.

Joaquin Arias (back) has been activated from the DL. He was 3 for 16 in four rehab games with Double A Frisco. Brandon Boggs, called up Sunday as Rich Harden (shoulder) went on the DL, is starting in right field tonight against Rays left-hander David Price.

Cruz suffered a strained right hamstring in late April that put him on the DL for the first time this year. He then suffered a strained left hamstring in late May and was DL'ed again.
