Rangers DFA Joaquin Arias to make room for Alex Cora

The last piece of the Alfonso Soriano could be on his road out of Arlington. The Rangers have designated infielder Joaquin Arias for assignment and purchased the contract of infielder Alex Cora from Oklahoma City. Cora will be in uniform tonight. Arias was with the team today, and took batting practice.

Arias was hitting .276 with no homers and nine RBIs for the Rangers this season.

Cora, 34, was signed to a minor-league contract last week. He's played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, as well as Cleveland, Boston and the New York Mets.

Assistant general manager Thad Levine said Cora gives the team a little more experience than Arias does.
