As unpredictable as the bankruptcy case has been, there's no sense in attempting to predict what will happen Wednesday during an auction for the club. It seems entirely likely that the group headed by Chuck Greenberg and Nolan Ryan will be up against Mark Cuban, either by himself or in a partnership with Jim Crane. As of Monday afternoon, Major League Baseball had not heard from Fox Sports/Rupert Murdoch about bidding.
Wednesday isn't the end, necessarily, though it could be extremely close to the end if the Greenberg-Ryan group emerges as the winner. That group would be approved by MLB by Aug. 12. Such rapid fire won't be the case with Cuban, who said that MLB had told him it would take nine months before a vote to approve him is held.
So, the Rangers Mailbag opens realizing that the majority of the questions might not come until Wednesday night or Thursday morning. Some might not be questions at all. That's fine. If anyone wants to sound off about the process, feel free to do so. Kindly keep in mind that this is a family mailbag.
If there are other questions about things not happening in a courtroom, send those as soon as possible to email@example.com. Please include your hometown along with your name.
