Rangers reducing prices across the board

The Rangers are dropping prices across the board.

Among the changes are parking prices being cut from $12 to $10.

Jumbo hot dogs are also being dropped from $4.50 to $4 while a 22-ounce beer goes from $7.75 to $7. There are several other changes to concession prices.

Fans can receive a 20 percent discount on cap purchases if they turn in a cap from another major league team. The deal is good for the authentic Rangers red and blue caps.

Concession prices are dropping from 50 cents on some items to $2 on others around the park. Merchandise savings are from $1 to $3.

The Rangers are also trying to enhance the game experience, adding ball and strike counts to concourse monitors, bringing back radio play-by-play on concourses, and adding other new elements.

"This franchise really does belong to our fans," said Chuck Greenberg.

Here is a complete price drop update from the team.

I'd give them 80% off if they turn in a Yankee cap!

How about reducing ticket prices? $95 for a ticket to a baseball game is ridiculous! Think about the math here. The NFL football season is 16 games whereas the MLB baseball season is 168 games. That makes the ticket to one NFL game have a "value" of 10.5 MLB game tickets. So when you take $95 and multiply it by 10.5 you get $997.50 Compare that to a $500 sideline ticket to see the Cowboys play the Eagles in the NFC East division championship game and you can easily see that at $95 for a regular season ticket, it's not worth it to see the Rangers play at Ranger's ballpark.

Yes but you will spend another 200.00 at a Cowboy game on parking, beer and anytrhing else you buy. Cowboys should think about giving back to the fans as well. 8.50 for a 12oz. beer. PALLEASE!

Sorry...it's 162 games not 168 games...so the math should be $961.88 and not $997.50...but that's still way overpriced.

To L. Reed:

Where are you trying to sit, in the dugout?! Were you aware that tickets up top are as cheap as $6? There's not a bad seat in the house, not to mention that the breeze is MUCH nicer up there than it is down at the bottom. And tell me, how much to those horrid seats behind pillars in the corners of the Cowboy's stadium run you, eh?

God bless Nolan Ryan and the other Ranger investors!

At least they are trying...more than we can say for other teams. And it's not even at a time where they are trying to fill seats since now people want to see the Rangers on their winning streak.

Rangers reduction in prices = chump change!

From Texasrangers.com

$95.00 Premium 1st Base Side
$85.00 Lexus Club Infield
$80.00 Lower Infield 3rd Base Side
$80.00 Lower Infield 1st Base Side

Where can I get one of those $95 dugout tickets? I want to advise Wash periodically.

in this economy anytime u go anywhere its a luxury. i am worried about my bills not how much rangers ticket cost .really guys !!!

To I. Hernandez:

Uh...hello!?!?? The whole article is about the cost of going to a baseball game....the largest portion is the ticket price itself....if you're so worried about your bills...then why are you reading this article anyway?

The way to really get prices to come down...

Stop going to the games! It would take less then a season to see prices drop to a level that a family could actually afford to go.

To L. Reed:

You are dumb. Yeah, lower level tickets may be $80-$95...but if you want to compare to the Cowboys, I went to the game last night and sat at the very top. What was ticket price? $79. $95 for Premium 1st base side is awesome!

To James:

Amen brother...I'll drink to that!

At a time when we are in a recession and every industry is still all about getting mega rich via consumers, any price reduction is appreciated. Concessions are a "gotcha" service that rakes in major bucks. I think the true cost for a paper cup of soda is somewhere around .25. A bit more for a souvenir cup. So for someone to reduce prices in an "easy as taking candy from a baby" money-making situation, it's a nice gesture.

@Teresa: EXACTLY!

So JLV,

I suppose then then you think that it would be comparatively fine for the Cowboys to charge $961.88 for a sideline ticket? I certainly don't think so. I suppose that you also think that reasonable ticket prices are what caused the Rangers to go into bankruptcy in the first place right?

It is a bargain. Red Sox box seats are $325 a game.

L. Reed,

You are mad at the wrong people here. I have lived in the DFW area practically my whole life (since I was 5, I am 26 now) and am a diehard Cowboys fan. I have been to one Cowboys game. The one last night...and the only reason I got to go to that game is because I was given the tickets.

If you are going to be mad at someone for high ticket prices, it should be the Cowboys. A family of 4-6 can go to a Rangers game, have a great time, and leave spending $100-$150. Where as the cost for that same family to enjoy a Cowboys game together would cost $400-$600 or more! Your vision is clearly skewed...

There are tons of ways to buy tickets cheap for the Rangers games-start by looking on their website. My husband and I just bought tickets to a total of 5 games (including 1 Red Socks and 1 Yankee game) for $100.00 for the both of us. Cheaper than going to the movies, and much more fun! You can also take in a cooler to really cut your costs.

Teresa you are about 10 cents too high

Glen R,

R U smoking dope?!?!?

From Bostonredsox.com

$95.00 Loge Box
$90.00 Pavilion Box
$75.00 Left Field Pavilion Reserved
$52.00 Right Field Box

The people complaining that tickets to the rangers cost 95 dollars are the same morons complaining that parking at cowboys stadium is 75 dollars. Just because it exists doesn't mean you have to pay it. There are seats to the Rangers game for 6 bucks. There is parking at the satadium for 10 (if you're willing to take a shuttle). If the more expensive option is too much for you, choose the lesser. Brilliant.

THE PLAYERS ARE NOT GOING ON STRIKE THEY ARE HAPPY TO PLAY!! BIG RALLY!

Also, L. Reed... you're an idiot. Loge seats are NOT the nice ones. You're looking at the best of what's left. Try this - http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/bos/ticketing/seating_pricing.jsp

The Rangers are easily one of the cheapest tickets in all of MLB.

Compare to -
http://texas.rangers.mlb.com/tex/ballpark/tex_ballpark_seating.jsp

And you'll see it's not even a contest.

JLV,

What I am saying is that the per game ticket price of a Rangers ticket when compared with the number of games played in the season is priced too high. Especially when also considering the fact that the Rangers have three competitors in the market of professional baseball. The Fort Worth Cats, the Grand Prairie Air Hogs and the Frisco Rough Riders. The Cowboys have no competitors in professional football and have a more reasonable ticket price per game than the Rangers when the length the season is taken into consideration.

Sorry Glen....ouch....Red Sox baseball is expensive...dang.

L. Reed, wow. First... you really consider those competition? They aren't. And won't ever be. Secondly, see my posts above. You DO NOT have to pay 95 dollars. Some people choose to. That's their choice. If you choose the 6 dollar tickets, as I generally do, 972 dollars gets you into every single game in a season. Quit bitching.
