Texas Rangers sale approved

An official announcement has not been made, but the Texas Rangers' sale has been approved.

The general meeting of the owners convened around 8:45 a.m. in Minneapolis, and the vote was the first item on the agenda. Chuck Greenberg was forced to sit outside the meeting ballroom, because he was not yet an owner, but was allowed into the meeting once the vote became final.

General manager Jon Daniels emerged from the meeting room, shook Greenberg's hand and showed him into the room, where he was met with a round of applause.

The meeting will likely last until 11 a.m., and a news conference with commissioner Bud Selig will follow.

I would think every sports fan in the DFW area is completely stoked about this! I'm a die-hard Astros fan (I know, I know), and I am extremely happy about the sale and new owners. This is just great for baseball in North Texas. A big shout-out to Chuck Greenberg and the great Nolan Ryan! Go Rangers!

Great day for Texas Rangers fans. Awesomeness.. Totally!!!
Yayyyy for Chuck and Nolan... Yayyy for the Texas Rangers... You are definitely in good hands....

about time Nolan gave back, he is the reason the Rangers didn't have pitching for years taking the old washed up thing for big money and not getting young pitchers.

GO RANGERS!!!! I am so glad our Texas hero and excellent role model won out!! Thank you Mr. Ryan!!

The only thing that would be better than this is the Rangers winning the World Series. This is just a pre-cursor for things to come. Best group of guys in the game. Great Team Chemistry goes along way. GO RANGERS!
