The regular-season finale was delayed in the top of the sixth inning Sunday as manager Ron Washington pulled Rangers regulars one-by-one so that they could receive a warm ovation from the fans. Washington did a similar thing before Vladimir Guerrero batted in the bottom of the inning.
Angels right-hander Dan Haren responded by throwing behind pinch-hitter Matt Treanor. Angels who were asked afterward said that they had never seen anything quite like that Washington did to recognize the players. Torii Hunter didn't like the moves, which in no way were intended to show up the vanquished Angels. But, apparently, some felt slighted.
Said Hunter: "What can you do? You can't do anything about it. What are you going to do, cry? It doesn't matter if I liked it or not. It doesn't matter if they try to rub it in our face or not, it's their stadium, they can do whatever the hell they want. I'd never do that. But they won it, they're the champs. We're going home, going fishing, I guess."
Said Haren: "It was a little weird. I don't know the history. If we'd done something like that, then it was fine to do. It was a little out of the ordinary. I felt bad for their pitcher. He had to stand around out there for five minutes."
Said manager Mike Scioscia: "Some guys thought it was maybe a little over the top. I had no problem with it. I think the guys realized it's their party. They certainly deserved and earned the right to celebrate anyway they wanted to and push themselves into the playoffs."
-- Jeff Wilson

Haren was all pissy because he misheard them and thought that it was "Dan Appreciation Day" at the Ballpark.

Wow. The Rangers have done this for years, no matter the division standings, on fan appreciation day. It sounds like a bunch of sore losers.

It's like Senior Night in college. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of California of the United States of America need to get over their bad selves. Last home game. Fan appreciation day, geez! I hardly think having the pitcher stand out in that blistering 66 degree day will kill him. Wahhhhhhh!

Sour grapes Angels. Get over it and act like MEN. You guys lost out this year and will also get BEATEN NEXT YEAR. Torii Hunter, I am glad you did not sign with the Rangers a few years back. Next year you will not even be able to back their 25 man roster.

Tori Hunter, I'm guessing your son will be more embarassed by the way you acted after Sunday's game than he would have been if you had signed with the Rangers as you said he would have been.

Wow....Torii Hunter, I'm glad you didn't sign with the Rangers. You are incredibly lame and your teammates should be ever so embarrassed by your comments. If I was your child, I'd be more ashamed that you were my father than anything.

I think it was awesome for the rangers players to get some recognition from the fans. They really worked hard this season to get there and its awesome the way the coach staff did this. Hats off to the Rangers and the staff...Job well done. This was in no means an attempt to belittle the other team. We had a very exciting season....now..Lets put the cap on it and bring home the big one....~! " Go Rangers " All the Way and then some ~! Gota Love it !

Preciso aprender a me bastar.
