Left-hander Madison Bumgarner needed only eight pitches to retire the Rangers in order in the third inning. Bumgarner got groundouts to shortstop from Bengie Molina and Elvis Andrus, and in between struck out Mitch Moreland on three pitches.
Now, Tommy Hunter comes back for the fourth inning, trailing 2-0. He has thrown 72 pitches as opposed to 42 for Bumgarner. The Rangers' bullpen looks like it might be about to crank up.
Due up for the Giants: Uribe (0 for 1), Ishikawa (0 for 1), Renteria (1 for 1).
