Nelson Cruz says he will play in Game 6

Outfielder Nelson Cruz said that the tightness he felt in his left hamstring is not severe and he will be on the field for Game 6 of the American League Championship Series. Cruz left in the fifth inning after feeling tightness making a throw to the plate in the second.

Cruz doubled in the fourth and had to chase down a Jorge Posada double into the left-field corner in the bottom of the inning. Cruz said he didn't feel any tightness on either play, and he was taken out of the game strictly as a precaution.

"I feel good right now," said Cruz, who had three DL stints with hamstring issues during the regular season -- two because of the left hamstring. "It's just tight. Wash said he didn't want to take any chances, so he shut me down."

Cruz expects to test the hamstring during Thursday's workout by jogging and with possibly a few other baseball activities.
