Rangers win Game 1 of ALDS, 5-1

Cliff Lee allowed one run in seven innings with a Rangers postseason record 10 strikeouts, and Nelson Cruz and Bengie Molina hit homers in a 5-1 victory over Tampa Bay in the opener of the American League Division Series.

The win was only the Rangers' second in their brief postseason history, after winning their first ever playoff game in 1996. They had lost nine straight, all to the Yankees. Game 2 is set for Tuesday afternoon at Tropicana Field with C.J. Wilson on the mound for the Rangers against James Shields.

Neftali Feliz made things interesting in the ninth in a non-save situation. He walked the first two Rays before Ben Zobrist hit a rocket to right field that Jeff Francoeur snagged for the first out, which seemed to settle down Feliz. Pinch-hitter Reid Brignac struck out on three pitches, and Feliz got pinch-hitter Matt Joyce on three straight swings and misses to end it.
