Francoeur becomes a free agent

Jeff Francoeur, acquired Aug. 31 in a trade with the Mets and a regular in the Rangers' lineup against left-handers through the World Series, is a free agent after clearing waivers and declining an outright assignment to the minors.

The move leaves the Rangers with 33 players on their 40-man roster.
