Rangers, Ron Washington agree to extension through 2012 season

Acting quickly, the Rangers have signed manager Ron Washington to an extension through the 2012 season. Financial terms have not been released.

Washington was in the final year of his contract in 2010, and he took the Rangers to the World Series for the first time in franchise history. He has a 331-317 record in four years, and the Rangers have improved in each season since he took over in 2007. His victories rank third in club history.
