Rangers sign Aggie standout Barret Loux

Right-hander Barret Loux, who was the sixth overall pick for the Arizona Diamondbacks in the June draft, has signed a free-agent contract with the Rangers.

Loux did not sign with the Diamondbacks after failing a physical because of shoulder and arm woes. He was granted free agency by baseball commissioner Bud Selig.

Texas general manager Jon Daniels said signing Loux was worth the risk, and that the Rangers scouts liked what they saw of him at Texas A&M. The Rangers gave Loux $312,000.
