Jon Daniels speaks about Michael Young trade talks

The trade talks involving Michael Young that came up late Tuesday never materialized a day later. Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said that he contacted Young's agent, Dan Lozano, to relay the nature of the talks and to downplay the way rumors involving a trade to Colorado took off.

"That’s the byproduct of having these meetings," Daniels said. "Ninety-nine percent of the players get asked about through different conversations. I’m not surprised when a big name gets run with."

Asked if he expects the nature of the conversations to change, Daniels said he doesn’t.

"But I wouldn’t speak in absolutes," he said. "We’re going to look at every way improve the club. Does that include trading Michael Young? No, that’s not likely."
