Updates on Ian Kinsler, Adrian Beltre, Brandon Webb

Ron Washington asked the local media to hold their horses when it comes to anointing Ian Kinsler as the Rangers' leadoff hitter in 2011. He's leading off for the road team in the intrasquad game today, but Washington said a more accurate look at the lineup will come Sunday in the first Cactus League game.

As for Adrian Beltre, who isn't playing, Washington said not to worry about the third baseman's right calf strain. "We want to make sure that his calf is gone," Washington said. "April 1 is the time we want him on the field."

Washington also watched Brandon Webb long-toss this morning and is now optimistic that Webb will be on a mound soon, possibly as early as Sunday after the right-hander has one more day of heavy long-toss and a day of light throwing. "Wow," Washington said. "The ball was coming out of his hand really good, and the arm strength is picking up. He left today with a smile on his face and feeling good."
