Dave Bush makes Rangers as long man; Alexi Ogando to be stretched out

The Rangers have decided that Dave Bush has made the team as the long man, manager Ron Washington said, leaving Brett Tomko, Pedro Strop, Mark Lowe and Mason Tobin still competing to be on the Opening Day roster. There could be two bullpen spots the Rangers would need to fill if they decide to put Alexi Ogando into the rotation to replace Tommy Hunter.

Ogando has been told that he will be stretched out again. He was moved back into the bullpen Wednesday after being a start the first month of camp. Washington said that Ogando will be the Rangers' starting pitcher on Tuesday in the exhibition game against Coastal Carolina in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Rangers have not made a final decision, though, possibly to monitor the transactions wire to see if anyone is released who might be a fit for them.

Washington, though, doesn't believe that Tomko is a fit as a starter, but he can still make the club as a second long reliever/middle reliever.

Please tell me that Wash has finally opened his eyes to the need of a 2ND long reliever.

With this rotation, they will work Bush to death without another long reliever(Tomko).
