Tommy Hunter hopes to be ready for Opening Day

Right-hander Tommy Hunter said that his strained right groin is sore, but he is hopeful that he will be ready to pitch by Opening Day. Hunter would be the Rangers' No. 3 or No. 4 starter, which means he would pitch no later than April 4.

"Three days. I had three days to go," said Hunter, who was hoping to avoid an injury for a third straight spring. "It'll be all right. It's something that happens. You've got to get full-strength and get back to throwing."

Hunter suffered an oblique injury last spring and didn't make his big-league debut until June 5. He also suffered a groin strain in March 2009 and didn't pitch for the Rangers until a spot start in late May.
