Rangers send Lowe to Triple A to get work

Right-hander Mark Lowe, who struggled in spring training and had a 13.50 ERA in four appearances with the Rangers this year, was optioned to Triple A Monday. The Rangers are activating Colby Lewis from his paternity leave to take Lowe's spot. The move also means left-hander Michael Kirkman will remain with the club.

Texas manager Ron Washington said Lowe needs to get more consistent work. Lowe, who missed most of the 2010 season because of back surgery, has thrown just 2 2/3 innings this year. He's allowed seven hits and four runs.
