Tigers 3, Rangers 2 (F)

DETROIT -- Brandon Inge swatted a solo homer with one out in the ninth inning off Darren Oliver to give the Detroit Tigers a second straight walk-off win over the Texas Rangers, 3-2, on Wednesday at Comerica Park.

Inge hit the first pitch from Oliver to supply the only home run of the three-game series. The Rangers had won their first three series of the season.

Dave Bush started as the Rangers used their bullpen throughout the game and delivered three scoreless innings. Mason Tobin followed with two more scoreless frames before the Rangers scored twice in the sixth against Max Scherzer for a 2-0 lead.

The Tigers, though, quickly answered with two of their own against Mark Lowe, who allowed consecutive doubles to Victor Martinez and Brennan Boesch to start the inning. Inge tied the game with a sacrifice fly.

The Rangers had runners in scoring position in the eighth and ninth innings, but they went 0 for 3 in those situations.

Michael Young doubled in the third inning, No. 352 of his career. That ties the club mark held by Ivan Rodriguez.

Why is Mark Lowe in the major leagues? He is the worst pitcher in baseball. Oh, he's with the Rangers because he's the only thing left from the Cliff Lee trade last year. So he must remain on the major league roster despite being the worst pitcher in the league. Then Wash wrongheadedly leaves Oliver in for the ninth, after he pitched a scoreless 8th inning, instead of bringing in Feliz, who could have pitched two innings with a day off tomorrow. Wash, you're managerial moves are absolutely mindbogglingly horrid. Maybe the Rangers can win the West again despite your amateur league thinking. And get rid of that idiot third base coach while you're at it. He just lost you your best player for 50 some odd games with a first inning charge to take home on a FOUL ball no less. FIRE ANDERSON. He just took out a multi-million dollar player for being a dumb.ass.

Robert, I feel your frustration and..you are 99% correct. Wash has been trying to get ALL RANGERS to slide feet first. RANGERS now get a much-needed day off to regroup and get ready to invade yankeville!

Anyone other than me miss Cliff Lee? He believed in throwing a first pitch strike then working ahead of the count not behind. The current Ranger pitchers and especially the relievers have forgotten that lesson.

This is where Ogando is missed in the bullpen. Such is life with 40 plus year old Oliver and worthless Mark Lowe.

Robert, I cut Oliver and Ron some slack only because if Lowe had done his job (does he ever?), Feliz would have been in there saving a 2-0 game. The game was lost in Lowes inning. I hope he's not kept on the staff to justify losing Smoak (who ain't doing too good either). Also, that stadium is a bad place for the Ranger's type of offense. Detroit makes the most of their home field advantage.
