Fast start for Rangers' Cuban prospect Martin

Texas Rangers prospect Leonys Martin, the defector from Cuba who is making his professional debut tonight, has had a fast start with the Rangers' Double A affiliate in Frisco.

He finished the night going 3 for 5 with two doubles, an RBI, and a stolen base, and was caught stealing once, leading off and playing center field.

In his first minor-league at-bat, Martin led off and hit a standup double and later scored. He singled in the third inning and then was thrown out trying to steal second.

He grounded out to first base in the fourth, flew out in the sixth and then doubled in his last at-bat, according to the RoughRiders website.

The RoughRiders are playing host to Corpus Christi, and their game Saturday is scheduled to be televised by KTXA/Channel 21.
